Anti-dumping Duty on Chemical Import from China and Russia 
Anti-dumping duty of USD 122.14-279.78 per tonne has been levied on import of chemical i.e Methylene Chloride. This chemical is used in pharmaceutical and fragrance industry,
Methylene Chloride is used in the manufacturing of polycarbonate and phenolic resins, rayon yarn, pharmaceuticals, agro and fragrance. It is also used as an extractant for edible fats, cocoa, butter and essences.

The levy of anti dumping duty on the import of ‘Dichloromethane (Methylene Chloride)’ will be valid for  in place for a period of 5 years from December 2015 onwards .It has been levied after a recommendation for the same by Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties DGAD).
DGAD ,on the basis of complaint from Chemplast Sanmar and Gujarat Fluorochemicals , had initiated a probe, in 2015, to ascertain as to whether  the chemical was being dumped into India at below normal value or otherwise. The probe resulted that it was sold at lower price and hence the anti dumping duty has been levied finally on Methylene Chloride
