A.SC Orders Compensation of Rs. 1.8 Crore to TN Girl in Medical Negligence Case

Supreme Court has directed Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs.1.8 crore compensation to a 18-year-old girl who lost her vision at birth due to medical negligence at a government-run hospital.

B. Supreme Court: Unwed Mother Can Claim Guardianship of Her Child Without Disclosing Name of Father

SC has ruled that an unwed mother has not to reveal name of father of her child for claiming guardianship of the child. The court also held that the consent of father is also not required while deciding guardianship of the child if the mother does not wish to disclose the parentage of the child.

C.Mediation in Rape Cases Illegal and against Dignity of Women

The Supreme Court lashed out at Madras HC judge over settlement in rape case, saying any such attempt for mediation in Rape Case is illegal and against the dignity of women.
