OTT Rules will be in a New Avatar – ITR(GIDMEC),2021

Recently notified “The Information Technology (GIDMEC) Rules, 2021” will see a different avtar as Supreme Court, finds it teethless.

The Court Observed that
“We have received the Rules you have filed. These Rules don’t have any teeth. There’s no provision for prosecution or fine. They’re only just guideline”.

“One issue that has cropped up is uncontrolled viewing of scenes on Prime Video. Union of India has issued notification of the new IT Intermediary Rule”.

The new draft Rules is expected to be filed in two weeks time.
